LEAD ALGORITHM ENGINEER - IMAGE PROCESSING (JOB OPENING ID: #108438)

The SFS-ADE division has the mission to provide bare wafer inspection tools with high sensitivity amp; throughput (wafers per hours) that helps reduce cost of ownership and find killer defects very early. We effectively partner with field support teams and customers to lower overall fab costs by supplying world-leading high-throughput inspection systems.
Our comprehensive product portfolio includes: Surfscan SP2/SP3 (with optional back side inspection), Wafersight range of products provide solutions for wafer geometry measurements such as thickness, shape, and flatness. These tools are deployed across several advanced wafer and IC fabs for a large number of applications.

Besides developing valuable products, the SFS division provides support to the customers to achieve performance entitlement through the sharing and implementation of applications BKM (Best Known Methods).

Job Description

  • We are looking for a senior level Algorithm Engineer with an excellent background in statistics and signal / image progressing who processes the ability and determination to apply this knowledge to solve difficult problems in the areas of defect detection and classification. The Algorithm Engineer will be joining the engineering team that creates the world's most advanced wafer inspection equipment.
  • The successful Engineer will have the ability to excel in an algorithm technical lead position, demonstrating ownership and providing to the team, a high level of technical guidance during the development of critical image processing subsystems, from the concept design phase through product design, release and sustaining. The Engineer must be self-motivated and self-directed, with ability to set priorities and achieve quality results both personally and from the team.
  • Activities will include working with cross functional global teams to define subsystem specifications, analyze data, model solutions, design and implement chosen solution, and test implementation against subsystem specifications. Initial tasks would include morphing existing algorithms from other KLA-Tencor systems to provide value on the surfscan system and looking at ground up algorithm design and the implementation of that design for the next generation system.
  • The ideal candidate will love a good technical challenge, work well with team members, and enjoy the opportunity to work with a variety of different technologies.
  • In the beginning, the candidate will have to travel to US for 3-6 months to understand the existing system and learn new product requirements. On returning to India, the candidate is expected to build a team of some algorithm engineers in India and lead them.

Qualifications:

    • Doctorate (Academic) with at least 7 years of experience.
    • Physics / Optical background is a plus
    • Must be able to look at the pro's/con's , determine the correct course of action and provide excellent communication to the team.
    • Excellent math background in the area of statistics, image, and signal processing
    • Strong Statistical processing background (Detection / Estimation Areas)
    • Strong Modeling capabilities (System Noise, Signal reconstructions, etc)
    • Classification algorithms / Machine learning
    • C Programming skills
    • Matlab Programming skills
