Position: Application Development Engineer - LED Inspection (Job opening ID: #109317)
Location: Chennai, India
KLA-Tencor has an opening for an Applications Development Engineer for our Candela-Growth amp; Emerging market division, which is the leader in development of inspection and metrology tools used in the hard disk drive and HBLED market.
Based in Chennai, India, the Applications Engineer will be responsible for:
- Interfacing with both internal and external customers providing support for product development, product characterization, pre-/post-sale activities, refinement of current applications, and development of new applications.
- Leading characterization activities focused on product functionality development, including new hardware and software feature definition and driving applications testing.
- Developing in-depth working knowledge and expertise in product operation and related end applications.
- Directly interface with the engineering team in defining detailed implementation of product features with end use-case perspective.
- Interfacing directly with key customers on use case requirements definition and future development needs.
- Playing a lead role in the applications organization by developing Best-Known-Method (BKM) and knowledge transfer process around product applications.
- Closely communicating with product marketing, sales and field personnel in rolling market requirements into product definition.Work experience in semiconductor processing or equipment industry preferred.
Candidates must desire to travel up to 75% on short notice and enjoy working in other cultures. Team work is critical so having a good balance between technical skills and people skills is a must. Excellent communication in English is required, and competency in Mandarin, Korean or Japanese is a big plus.
Qualifications/Education Desired:
Essential : Post Graduate Degree (M.Tech, M.Sc). or PhD in fields of Physics, Chemistry, Optics, Material Science, Solid State technology, Bio-Tech, Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical or related fields.
