REVERSE CULTURE SHOCK--THE GOOD STUFF

So because I sound like a totally heinous witch in the last post, I'm going to try and redeem myself by accounting for all the good things I've encountered here.

1. Starting with the journey itself, I was amazed when this one all-American guy offered me his place in the bathroom line on the plane. So this guy and his wife were ahead of me--his wife went in and came out--and he looked at me and asked me if I'd like to go in. I was all like WOW, common courtesy, how amazing!

2. Cars aren't trying to run you down and kill you! You can walk through a parking lot nicely without having to run for your life as people are actually respectful of pedestrians.

3. Awesome margaritas! No explanation needed.

4. Massive makeup isle in a regular grocery store. Actually, massive anything isle in a regular grocery store. Have you seen the variety of cereal available in a regular American grocery store? It'll blow your mind!

5. Lack of the ZOMG OBESITY EPIDEMIC! From everything I've read online, I was expecting this place to be like a Wall-E type environment. Not the case at all--makes me think the whole obesity epidemic in America thing is exaggerated quite a bit!

6. Good service! So today we went to a typical, normal, chain Tex-Mex restaurant and the service was pretty good. Not remotely as god-awful as the 'middle class but wanna be high end' bullshit place we'd gone to on the day I'd landed.
